9th April,1926.
sir.
I have the honour to address you' concernin; transport within the Colony of the Governor, a service for which no provision is in the Colonial estimates.
2.
Owing to the great development of motor traffic in the island of Hongkong and across the harbour in Lewloon and in the New Territory, the constant use of two motor cars in connection with the Governor's establishment has become necessary and it is estimated that for two-thirds of their running time these cars are employed in the public service either by the Governor or by kis staff on duty.
3.
My predecessor employed two motor both being his private property. I purchased on's of these cars from him, a Crossley, for five hundred pounds (£800) and I brought with me from Ceylon a Swift car of my own. Both these cars have been in daily use since my arrival,
MIGHT HONOURABLE
LILUTENANT COLONEL L.CM.5. AMERY, M.?..
